Cashmere Gentle Wash

Yes, 100% cashmere can be washed at home. We recommend gentle handwashing in a clean basin with cold water. Use a gentle baby shampoo or the Kasmiri Gentle Wash to help preserve the softness and integrity of the fibres. Avoid soaking for more than 5-10 minutes, as cashmere fibres are delicate.

Gently massage the washing liquid into the cashmere piece and squeeze the water out of the fabric until the water runs clear. Never rub or wring as this will damage the fibres. Lay flat to dry on a clean white towel in shade away from the sun or heat.

Cashmere does not need to be washed after every wear, especially for scarves, wraps, and robes. Simply airing your cashmere between wears is usually enough to keep it fresh.

We recommend washing at least once during the season or before storing away at the end of the season. Less frequent washing helps maintain softness, shape, and overall condition. Cashmere is naturally antibacterial and does not absorb odours, so hanging your item to air allows it to refresh naturally.

We do not recommend dry cleaning our Kasmiri cashmere pieces. Dry cleaners use harsh chemicals, which may damage the delicate A-grade cashmere fibres used to craft Kasmiri knitwear.

Lay your garment flat and pull the piece taut. Hold a Kasmiri Cashmere Comb at a 90-degree angle and gently comb through your cashmere piece in the direction of the fibres. Use short, light, and quick strokes to remove pilling. Regular maintenance helps keep your cashmere looking fresh and extends its lifespan significantly.
