Our Story

Our Story

I first travelled to Nepal in 1999 working as an International Development Consultant to help impoverished communities become economically sustainable. It’s also where I met and fell in love with my darling husband, Ray.

I bought my first cashmere travel wrap in the backstreets of Kathmandu. A luscious, rich Tibetan red travel wrap which I adore till this day.

It’s soft and comforting and it reminds me of my first visit to Nepal and of my life stories since then. Like a trusted friend, it kept me warm on my travels. I wrapped it around our first born baby, Amelia, to keep her warm and snug and one day, when the time is right, I will hand it on to one of my daughters’ children yet to be born.

Kasmiri is the story of your life and its adventures.

Wear a Kasmiri and start your journey or give a Kasmiri to someone you love so they may begin theirs.

All our products are presented in a soft to the touch, boutique KASMIRI box that is planet friendly and made to last for years to come. It is the perfect place to store your cashmere scarf or shawl.

If your purchase is a gift for someone special and you would like us to include a personalised message on your behalf, simply add your message to the ‘special instructions’ area during checkout and leave the rest to us. We love to make our customers happy.

Our box uses Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper that’s acid, sulphur and lignin-free, which means it can be recycled. However, our box is made to be kept for a long time and its purpose is to provide a wonderful unboxing experience and for storing your cashmere.

Our boxes are sent to you in a consciously made bubble mailer that is plastic-free and compostable.

Kasmiri uses only the purest cashmere expertly spun from carefully selected premium quality raw material sourced from four key regions known for their superior cashmere fibre.

These regions are the Alashan area in the Western part of Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Tibet. The result is a truly luxurious yarn with an average micron of 15.2-15.8 giving an extraordinary soft, voluminous yet light superior cashmere for your ultimate warmth and comfort.

Our cashmere has a wide range of international certifications to ensure quality and ethical sustainable practices including the GOOD CASHMERE STANDARD. This certification means our cashmere is sustainably sourced from farms where goats are treated responsibly, the environment is protected and the social, ecological, and economic living conditions of cashmere farmers and their families are respected.

Our cashmere is also OEKO-TEX certified which means it is completely free from harmful chemicals.

We offer timeless luxury for life’s adventures, ethically made in a way that respects our people and planet.

We love to make our customers happy while meeting the aspirations of our artisans.

Ethical & Sustainable Luxury

Our collection is made by dedicated and skilled artisans in Nepal. We believe in preserving tradition, nurturing the local economy, and following ethical and sustainable practices.

We work with the noblest natural material there is; cashmere. We are dedicated to timeless, versatile designs that will be loved by many and always. Carefully made to last a lifetime, and one which will become a family heirloom that will be loved for generations.

We believe the quality of the item is as important as the quality of the lives of the skilled artisans who make them.

All of our artisans are paid fairly and work in a relaxed, safe environment where everyone feels they are “home away from home”.

We continue to fulfil the aspirations of our artisan weavers who are mainly women by supporting the education of their children and grandchildren to ensure the next generation has a bright future.

A portion from each sale from our collection goes toward supporting secondary school scholarships for our artisan families. This financial support helps realise dreams and a better future.
